And if you have unused space of your own, Stashed makes it easy to turn it into
extra income.
It’s a simpler, more local, and more affordable way to store your things — while
helping others get more value from space they’re not using.

Our Story
Started by two Stellenbosch University graduates who experienced the problem first-hand.
While studying, we moved between digs, flats and houses more times than we can
count. Every move seemed to come with the same challenge: finding somewhere
affordable, convenient and trustworthy to store our belongings.
At the same time, our place somehow became the unofficial storage unit for friends.
Boxes, furniture, bikes and even the occasional car would appear whenever someone
was moving, travelling or heading home for the holidays.
The funny thing was, storage always seemed difficult to find.
Space didn’t.
The more we looked around, the more obvious something became. Storage was
expensive and often far away, yet perfectly good space was sitting unused everywhere.
Garages, spare rooms, sheds and parking bays were all around us — they just weren’t
connected to the people who needed them.
That’s when the idea for Stashed was born.
What if finding storage was as easy as booking an Airbnb? What if people could earn
from space they already had, while others could find affordable storage right in their
own neighbourhood?
That simple idea became Stashed.
Today, Stashed is building South Africa’s marketplace for storage — helping people find
space when they need it, and helping others unlock value from space they already own.
We started with one simple belief:
Storage shouldn't be sitting empty, and neither should opportunity.
And we’re only just getting started.
Meet the Founder
Thomas Spiro
Founder & CEO
Thomas studied Financial Management and
Information Systems at Stellenbosch University
before starting his career in wealth management.
After seeing first-hand how difficult and expensive storage could be, he realised the problem wasn’t a lack of space – it was a lack of access to it.
Rather than spending his career analysing investments, he decided to build one.
Thomas left the corporate world to launch Stashed, with a mission to help South Africans
earn from unused space while making storage smarter, more local and more affordable for
everyone.
Because sometimes the biggest opportunities are hiding right under our roofs.
