1. Introduction
Welcome to Stashed (“Stashed”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
Stashed is an online marketplace that connects individuals and businesses seeking storage space (“Renters”) with individuals and businesses offering storage space (“Hosts”).
By creating an account, accessing the platform, or using any Stashed services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, you may not use the Stashed platform.
2. About Stashed
Stashed acts solely as a marketplace platform.
Stashed does not own, operate, manage, inspect, control, or supervise any storage space listed on the platform.
Stashed facilitates:
- Storage listings
- Booking requests
- Payments
- User communication
- Account management
Any agreement relating to the storage of goods is entered into directly between the Host and the Renter.
3. Eligibility
To use Stashed you must:
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements;
- Provide accurate and complete information;
- Comply with all applicable laws.
Stashed may suspend or terminate accounts that provide false or misleading information.
4. User Accounts
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.
You agree to:
- Keep your login information secure;
- Notify Stashed of any unauthorised use of your account;
- Ensure all information provided is accurate and up to date.
Users remain responsible for all activity occurring under their account.
5. Host Responsibilities
Hosts agree to:
- Accurately describe their storage space;
- Provide truthful information regarding size, location, access, and security;
- Maintain reasonable access arrangements;
- Ensure they have the legal right to make the space available;
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Hosts are solely responsible for the condition, security, and suitability of their storage space.
6. Renter Responsibilities
Renters agree to:
- Provide accurate information;
- Pay all fees when due;
- Use storage spaces lawfully;
- Store only permitted items;
- Remove stored items at the end of the agreed storage period.
Renters remain solely responsible for all items placed into storage.
7. Prohibited Items
The following items may not be stored through Stashed under any circumstances:
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances;
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or weapons;
- Hazardous chemicals or toxic materials;
- Stolen goods;
- Perishable food or organic matter;
- Living animals or plants;
- Human remains;
- Cash, negotiable instruments, or securities;
- Any item prohibited by South African law.
Stashed reserves the right to remove listings, suspend accounts, or cooperate with law enforcement where prohibited items are suspected.
8. Fees and Payments
Listing a storage space on Stashed may be free unless otherwise stated.
Stashed may charge service fees, commissions, or other platform fees for the use of the platform. Current fees will be displayed to users before completing a booking.
All payments relating to bookings must be processed through approved payment methods provided by Stashed.
Users may not solicit, accept, or make payments outside of the Stashed platform where a booking originated through Stashed.
Failure to comply with this provision may result in account suspension or termination.
9. Cancellations and Refunds
All cancellations and refunds are governed by the Stashed Refund & Cancellation Policy.
By using the platform, Hosts and Renters agree to be bound by that policy.
10. Insurance and Stored Goods
Stashed does not provide insurance coverage for:
- Stored goods;
- Storage spaces;
- Buildings;
- Vehicles;
- Personal property belonging to Hosts or Renters.
Hosts and Renters are responsible for obtaining any insurance they consider necessary.
Users store and host goods at their own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stashed shall not be liable for:
- Theft;
- Loss;
- Damage;
- Water damage;
- Fire;
- Flooding;
- Mould;
- Pest infestation;
- Business interruption;
- Consequential or indirect losses.
Stashed provides a marketplace service only and is not a party to the storage arrangement between Hosts and Renters.
12. User Content and Listings
Users are responsible for any content, listings, descriptions, images, or information submitted to the platform.
Users may not upload content that:
- Is false or misleading;
- Is unlawful;
- Infringes intellectual property rights;
- Contains harmful software;
- Is offensive, abusive, or discriminatory.
Stashed may remove content at its discretion.
13. Privacy
Your use of Stashed is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
By using the platform, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable South African law.
14. Account Suspension and Termination
Stashed may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts where a user:
- Breaches these Terms;
- Engages in fraud or unlawful conduct;
- Circumvents platform fees;
- Creates safety or trust concerns;
- Misuses the platform.
Stashed reserves the right to remove listings or restrict access without prior notice where reasonably necessary.
15. Disputes Between Users
Hosts and Renters are encouraged to resolve disputes directly.
Stashed may assist in facilitating communication but is not obligated to investigate, mediate, or determine fault.
Stashed is not responsible for resolving disputes arising from storage arrangements between users.
16. Intellectual Property
All content, branding, logos, software, designs, and materials relating to Stashed remain the property of Stashed or its licensors.
Users may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit any Stashed intellectual property without prior written permission.
17. Changes to These Terms
Stashed may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
Updated versions will be published on the platform.
Continued use of the platform following publication of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
18. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
